Hmm . . .

Unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade's gonna suck.

Back from Lacoste

I've finally uploaded some drawings from my trip in the Provence region of France. I went with the Savannah College of Art and Design off-campus program just this spring. It was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had!

Picking up the pencil . . .

I'm finally feeling like drawing for myself again. I spent a good while looking at Claire Wendling's work (which I'm so inspired by) this morning and felt motivated to just draw whatever. She's a French illustrator that my professor told me about. Check out her website http://www.claire-wendling.net/. I'll try to fill up a sketch book before the end of the summer . . . .

I'll also post some of my sketches from my trip to Lacoste, France soon!

What? There's more?

Here's more work that I've done between 2009 and 2010 for several projects.

These 4 images were from a children's book I started working on in the fall of 2009 about an old Enlgish fairy tale called the Buried Moon. A really creepy, but wonderful story. I hope completely illustrate the story and turn it into a fully illustrated children's book, but here is a start . . . .

This other piece is some digital work that I did while learning Photoshop. Notice I used the word learning when using Photoshop . . . . I'm starting to really like working digitally.

This was one of my favorite watercolor pieces . . . . Starting to play around with complementary colors. And, not using ink!

Back from Lacoste, France! Long time, no post . . . .

So, I'm finally starting to post some old work again! I've just returned from a study abroad program in Lacoste, France and am home for the summer. I figured it would be a nice thing to continue this blog and finally get some of my work up. . . .

These first 3 ink drawings were results from some doodles I did while watching So You Think You Can Dance during the summer of 2009. I've been inspired by dancers probably since I was 4. I was exploring the movements of the human expression and experimenting with linework and flat color.
